Where do they procure their vehicles?
How credible are their vehicle suppliers? Ask the question and make sure they are well recognized names.
What does the insurance cover?
Ask for a copy of your policy that covers the car you are driving. Your policy should always be made available to you upon request.
Is the company a legally trading entity?
You have all the right to ask for proof of this.
Who supplies the maintenance plan?
This is important. Make sure its a major well recognized company.
What happens if I want to purchase my rental?
If its a Rent to Buy deal then you can ask at any time for an offer to purchase the car, whereby a separate purchase agreement can be drawn up. We can assist you with finance too through our market-leading partners.
Why is Rent to Buy more expensive than finance?
Rent to Buy companies take a huge risk as their clients are unfortunately already high risk. We also bolt-on very comprehensive insurance and service or maintenance plans for our clients which are very expensive but very convenient for clients. Last but not least, we offer 48 months deals whereby the banks sometimes drag a deal out over 72 months with a balloon payment still due! In certain cases a Rent to Buy deal can turn out cost effective than traditional finance.
But I want to own my vehicle at some stage. Is this not a good idea?
A car is a massive depreciating item. Once you eventually own a car after years of bank payments or if you choose to buy your Rent to Buy vehicle it will have probably halved in value and have no maintenance plan or service plan or warranty. That’s just insane to want to own. A full maintenance long term Rent to Buy product means we save you all of these worries and risks and you get into a new updated car every year or two.
Do I own the vehicle after the contract term comes to an end?
Any company that tells you this (unless they are a bank), is not telling you the truth / and is operating illegally. Anytime during your contract, or at contract term end, you may absolutely request an OTP for your current vehicle being driven and you will receive an unbelievably competitive purchase price from your deals team member. Remember that we can also offer finance options through all major banks should your profile have improved over your rental period due to paying on time and making sure that no debit orders bounce.
There are so many Rent to Buy companies, how do I choose the best one?
Firstly and very importantly, do they have offices and a proper staff setup? Beware of brokers operating just through a website as there are many. We can certainly tell you who they are as we receive many of their very disappointed clients. Secondly, please be sure to ask them where their vehicles come from and who offers the maintenance and service plans and insurance cover. You have the right to have all of this proven to you.
Am I actually paying off my vehicle capital value?
Who is their insurance broker & underwriter?
This is really important for you to understand and you have the right to ask. Please be sure to understand your excess responsibilities.
Why an activation fee?
The company should always be able to explain this to you. There are very specific costs that the fee covers.
Are we talking a service plan or a maintenance plan?
Ask what your vehicle deal includes and for what period of time.
What happens if I cant afford my rental anymore?
Naturally your vehicle must be immediately returned. Certain companies however, may offer a few days leniency depending on how you have managed your account historically.
What are the Rent to Buy benefits?
We take huge risk away from our clients by taking care of services, all insurance, tracking, and even 24 hour roadside assistance. Further to this, should a client’s financial position change, vehicles may be returned whereby no penalty fee shall exist, just as long as vehicles are returned damage free and account is up to date. Banks certainly don’t allow this type of flexibility.
How do I know my vehicle is roadworthy?
Again, be sure to understand where your Rent to Buy company procures their stock. This information should be made freely available upon request.
What is the difference between traditional finance and Rent to Buy?
These are two utterly different offerings. Traditional car finance does not include insurance, maintenance, services, tracking unit, roadside assist and the ability to cancel the contract if required. In fact traditional bank Finance will most certainly enforce that you settle your entire Financed amount should you need to terminate for any personal reason. There are so many benefits within Rent to Buy products, however be very sure that you are dealing with a reputable company.
But I WANT A RENT TO OWN?
Its so important that we clear this up once and for all. Unless the company advertising Rent To Own contracts is a bank of some type (can show you their financial services licence), then its completely illegal for that company to have their clients “pay off” a vehicle over a period of time. You run 100% risk that this deal can be cancelled at anytime due to it essentially being totally illegal.
Why do some vehicles take so long to arrive?
There has been a huge emergency in the international vehicle manufacturing world. A chip that is required in most vehicles is out of stock as a Covid backlog exists. This has caused huge stock issues. As we are partnered with industry leaders, we generally get preference on all stock and can assist more efficiently than other suppliers.
Why is my monthly fee so much higher than bank finance?
Firstly, Banks accept low to medium risk and nothing more. We accept individuals that can afford their vehicle yet unfortunately have rather high risk. Secondly, banks to not offer comprehensive insurance and top of the range tracking system and free services and maintenance for the entire period. We do!
